Motorcycle trip to Kaslo BC
June 9 - 10, 2010
Total distance of the trip was 1230 Kms according to the GPS. Did it in
2 days.
About 10% more than that if you went by the Goldwing speedo (Due to known GW
accuracy error.)
The road from Creston up to Revelstoke is one of the best motorcycle roads
you will find.
Great scenery, twisties, and we were lucky with little traffic.
Stay a couple of more days and go up and down that route.
There is 2 ferry rides you need to take (FREEE!!).
Kootenay Lake Ferry
Schedule
ROUTE: Across Kootenay Lake, 35 kilometres east of Nelson on Highway 3A,
between Balfour (west side) and Kootenay Bay (east side), 70 kilometres from

And the
Upper Arrow Lakes Ferry – Galena Bay & Shelter Bay
Schedule
ROUTE: Across Upper Arrow Lake, 49 kilometres south of Revelstoke on
Highway 23, between Shelter Bay and Galena Bay.

Recommendations:
Call ahead and reserve your room. there is not many places to stay in
Ainsworth, Kaslo, New Denver area.
Get there early, if you want to eat. We pulled in at 10:15pm and the ONLY dinner
we found was a bag of potato chips and a beer at the Kaslo hotel.
Breakfast at the Treehouse Cafe on Front Street. The place has good food,
reasonable prices, and not so good washrooms.
Steak & eggs was $11.00, for a good sized-well cooked steak.
(Internet reviews of this place are from terrible to fabulous. Guess it depends
on the day)
